Education Welfare
We work with local authorities to support schools and families to ensure all children & young people receive a full-time education. Where attendance has been raised as a concern, whether for children on the school’s SEN Register, for children looked after, for those at risk of suspension or exclusion, or for any other reason, we can provide support to help resolve issues before they escalate or become long standing patterns of behaviour.
We will work alongside Education Welfare Services and other agencies involved with the school, child, or family, to provide a holistic approach to improved engagement and attendance.
We provide:
- Close liaison with the child’s school
- Home visits to understand the reasons for non-attendance or poor attendance
- Action plans/reports to prioritise next steps in supporting the family
- Partnership working with schools, the local authority, health, education & social care services
- Direct support for families in managing their child’s successful entry to school
- Support for transport issues where these are a feature of the challenges to full attendance
- Support for independent travel training, where this is relevant and helpful
- One to one mentoring for young people disaffected or disengaged from education
